Exploring the potential causes of HIV prevalence among young women in South Africa: a critical literature review

Purpose The purpose of this study is to explore the potential causes HIV prevalence among young women in South Africa. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) one leading death sub-Saharan Africa (SA) has largest pandemic world with approximately 7.2 million people living as 2017. There a disproportionate incidence between and men, particularly affecting 15–24 years age. This paper reviewed 10 articles on impact SA women. Design/methodology/approach A total were selected for review using academic databases including Library One Search Pro, Google Scholar, British Medical Journal Elsevier . search generated 11,095 articles, which narrowed down by criteria being specific gender age publication period. Findings Five themes identified from findings these included age-disparate relationships, social factors sexual behaviour. Impact communities individuals, patriarchy poverty isolation. Originality/value shows inequalities men infection It also some gaps that require further research regards infections
